Graham Towns

Graham Towns

Meet Graham Towns, Manufacturing Development Manager. He’s been at Hallmark for 23 years and enjoys working with inspiring people!

My environment is challenging, I have a very diverse role ranging from management through to training others.

Having the opportunity to work along side such a diverse workforce is stimulating.

Q&A

Q Do you get any training & support?
A Yes! Courses, and on occasion one-to-one mentoring, have raised my skill levels considerably. There is, however, a degree of self-development expected by the business. My manager supports me through being flexible and interested in the activities which drive both business and personal improvement.

Q What opportunities are there to progress?
A Personally, I believe that Hallmark offers a wide scope for career progression if the individual wants to develop into more challenging role(s). I arrived in 1988 as a press room assistant to an assistant and have been supported through various development opportunities until I eventually entered management in 2004. I’ve also developed individuals from team leader roles into management as role successors. Additionally, I’ve developed recruitment interviews to acquire staff that could be trained from non-skilled roles to skilled roles.

Q What’s your day-to-day working environment like?
A My environment is challenging. I have a very diverse role ranging from management through to training others.

Q What is the best thing about working at Hallmark?
A Working with people that are inspiring. There are always new challenges to allow development and help you to understand strengths and seek opportunities. Hallmark recognises that the people are its most important resource; this sits well with my character and management style, as having the opportunity to work alongside such a diverse workforce is stimulating and teaches me so much.
