Sustainability is at the core of everything we do here at Hallmark. Our goal is to help people live a more caring and connected life in every way that we can, whether that be caring for and connecting with people or caring for the planet. We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and supporting organisations whose aim is to protect and conserve the natural world.

So, in honour of Earth Day we wanted to take a moment to highlight one of our chosen environmentally focused partnerships with the wonderful team over at the Woodland Trust.

Threats to woodland, wildlife and the wider environment are growing. Our trees and woods face a challenging combination of pressures, from humans’ impact, to pests and diseases. As a paper-based company we know we need to do everything that we can to take care of them.

It is supremely important to us that all the card and paper we use comes from FSC®-certified, well-managed sources and that we uphold the highest standards when it comes to the sustainability of our products and processes, but we also want to do more than just that, and therefore we need the right partners to help us make a difference in the right places.

Since 2022 we have been working closely with the Woodland Trust to support their conservation and restoration goals and to help them share their message with an even wider audience. For every single order placed on hallmark.co.uk since 2022, 20p has been donated to the Woodland Trust* to protect and care for UK woodlands for future generations to enjoy.

Inspired by our partnership with the Woodland Trust, Hallmark launched a photo competition inviting the UK’s amateur photographers across the UK to venture into nature and take photos of native woods and trees, in celebration of the local areas they love to explore.

The standard of entries was truly fantastic. Winning photographs from the Spring photo competition have been published in a special edition woodland card range which you can find here.

For the last 50 years the Woodland Trust has been working to protect, restore and create native woodlands across the UK. As the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity expanding native woodland and creating tree-rich habitats to benefit nature, climate and people is at the heart of what they do.

With a vision of a world where woods and trees thrive for both people and nature, the Woodland Trust fights to protect them, preventing the loss of irreplaceable habitat, nature, and carbon stores, with the aim of ensuring a healthier future for everyone. From fighting the pressures facing woods and trees, and securing important woodland habitats that are at risk, to restoring irreplaceable ecosystems and improving landscape resilience so that nature and people can thrive, the Woodland Trust does all this and more. Their people work tirelessly to ensure that the 1,000 woods in their care, open and free to access all year round, grow and thrive.

The Woodland Trust wants to inspire a love for woods and trees for generations to come and is committed to planting and protecting native trees and woodland for the health of people, wildlife, and our planet… and we are thrilled to play a small part in helping them to do this.
